Zeeman is Ridge Section 161, named after a 184 km-wide
lunar impact crater located on the lunar Far Side near the
south pole. To the northwest of Zeeman lies the crater
Numerov (out of frame). Southeast of the rim is the crater
Ashbrook. The outer rim of Zeeman is eroded somewhat
irregularly, with considerable variation in width of the
inner slopes. The crater Zeeman Y lies across the northern
wall, reaching almost to the relatively flat interior floor.
In the western rim is a small crater that joins a gash that
runs down to the floor. The surface of the interior is
pock-marked by many tiny craterlets, and worn crater
features. There is a low central rise, offset to the
southeast of the interior midpoint. There seems to be quite
a bit of interest in the region attested by the web page
articles at the bottom of this directory. However, none of
these have beeen evaluated and we have no comments from our
team at this point. (Credit: Most of the information used in
the section feature descriptions was obtained from
wikipedia.org. Section 161 and this directory was created by
Fran Ridge and Ned Haskin of The Lunascan Project).
