BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The central and northern areas of Mare Imbrium have no large
craters,
but a telescope pointed in the area shown along the northern
edge of the
chart at lunar sunrise or sunset will reveal the long pointed
shadows of
isolated peaks. In the past such shadows cast by a low Sun
helped to convey
the false impression that the lunar mountains are very high,
steep and
